Are mouthwashes a good idea?

The best idea is the mechanical elimination of the bacterial plaque using the different tools available (toothbrush, floss, interdental toothbrush, etc.).

Mouthwashes are effective support given their chemical make-up, but in the long term they are not enough because those that really work cannot be used for long periods.

Mouthwash should never replace the toothbrush or floss.

It is typically used to support a treatment being undergone. The specialist may recommend this type of rinse for periodontal problems or halitosis, among others.

Some of them contain alcohol which makes their use not advisable. Others may stain the teeth if they are used for too long.

Therefore, we recommend using mouthwash under specialist advisement.
