What is a removable prosthesis?

It is a dental prosthesis which can be removed for cleaning; it rests on the mucosa and gums.

As noted before, this type of prosthesis is being used less and less. The discomfort for the patient and the movements when speaking or eating lead many of those who have this type of prosthesis to choose a treatment with implants – where the prosthesis is fixed and the patient no longer has to remove it or experience inconvenient situations.

Over time, removable prosthetics go out of alignment which means that constant visits to the dentist are required a certain amount of time after receiving them. Many of these patients recur to prosthetic fixatives – with all the discomfort that involves each time these glues cease to work.

Replacing this type of prosthesis with dental implants can change a patient’s life both aesthetically and in terms of chewing.
